Bound runs the athletics calendars for a lot of school districts, and it does offer a subscribable feed — it just calls the option "RSS Feeds," which sends plenty of parents looking for a calendar link in the wrong place. The link it gives you is a normal iCal feed, and Google Calendar takes it like any other.
This guide walks both halves: filtering the Bound calendar to your kid’s team and copying the feed, then the From URL step in Google, which only exists on the website. Plus the honest fine print about how quickly Google actually picks up a rescheduled game.
Open your school's Bound calendar in a browser. Bound sites live at gobound.com — most districts link the athletics calendar from the school website, and the URL will look like gobound.com/<state>/schools/<yourschool>/calendar. A browser on your phone is fine; you don't need to log in for the public calendar.
Filter to your kid’s team first. Before you grab any link, use the calendar's sport/team filters to narrow to the team you actually want — 8th-grade boys basketball, JV volleyball, whichever applies. The subscription link generally reflects the view you're on, and a whole-district feed will bury your kid's games under every sport in the building.
Look for the subscribe option — Bound labels it "RSS Feeds". This is the step that trips people up. Bound's own wording is RSS, but what it hands out is a standard iCal calendar feed. Open that option from the filtered calendar view and copy the link.
Check the link looks right. A real Bound calendar feed contains /calendar/ical/ in the path — for example https://gobound.com/ks/schools/yourschool/calendar/ical/… . If the link you copied is just the calendar web page (no /ical/), go back and find the feed option; Google can’t subscribe to a web page.
Open Google Calendar in a browser — the phone app can't do this part. On a computer, go to calendar.google.com. On a phone, the Google Calendar app has no way to add a calendar from a URL — open calendar.google.com in your phone's browser instead, and use Request Desktop Site if the settings are hidden.
Add calendar → From URL → paste → Add. In the left sidebar, click the + next to "Other calendars" and choose From URL. Paste the Bound feed link and click Add calendar. The games appear within a minute on the web.
Turn it on in the phone app. In the Google Calendar app on your phone, open Settings, find the new calendar under your account, and make sure Sync is on so it shows up there too.
Subscribing puts the schedule in Google Calendar, but Google refreshes subscribed feeds on its own cycle — typically every 12 to 24 hours — and it never notifies you when an event changes. A game the athletic office moved this morning can still show the old time at pickup. Schedule Caddie checks the same Bound feed every hour and emails you exactly what changed, so the calendar on your phone is the backup, not the only line of defense.
Paste the link into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Outlook and it works — and for one athlete at one school it's genuinely fine. The squeeze comes when the family calendar is bigger than one school: a club team on TeamSnap, a sibling at the middle school on a different Bound page, the district's early-release days — Google won't merge or color-code any of that, and nothing warns you when Thursday's game moves to Friday.
Google says the calendar could not be found or is invalid
Nine times out of ten the link is the calendar web page, not the feed. Look for /calendar/ical/ in the address. If it is the feed and Google still refuses it, paste it into Schedule Caddie instead — we read Bound feeds natively and have verified them against live school feeds.
A game moved but Google still shows the old time
Google refreshes subscribed calendars on its own cycle, roughly every 12 to 24 hours, with no refresh button for a single calendar. The Bound feed itself updates promptly; it's Google's cached copy that lags. If you need to know the same hour, Schedule Caddie checks the feed hourly and emails you exactly what changed.
Two games on the same day with the same name
Bound sometimes lists two sessions of the same event (two courts, two grade levels) under one name. They're both real. Google shows both; Schedule Caddie keeps both too, with the times, so nothing is silently dropped.
I subscribed and got the entire school
You copied the link from the unfiltered calendar. Go back, filter to your team, copy the feed from that view, and replace the subscription in Google (remove the old calendar, add the new URL). In Schedule Caddie you can also just hide the schedules you don't want after import.
Yes. Bound's wording is RSS, but the link it generates is a standard iCal feed — the URL contains /calendar/ical/ — and Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook and Schedule Caddie all subscribe to it as a normal calendar. We've verified live Bound school feeds importing and syncing correctly (September 2026).
No. Subscribed calendars update quietly in the background, on a 12–24 hour cycle, and never notify. School athletics schedules change more than any other kind — rainouts, bus delays, gym conflicts — which is why Schedule Caddie watches the same Bound feed every hour and emails you the change, with the old time and the new one.
Mostly. Get the feed link from the Bound calendar in your phone's browser, then add it at calendar.google.com in the browser too — the Google Calendar app itself can't add a calendar from a URL.
That's the limit of a school feed: it knows one school. Schedule Caddie takes the Bound feed from each school plus the TeamSnap, GameChanger or SportsEngine links from club teams and merges them into one color-coded family calendar, with one feed you can put on your phone and conflict detection across all of it.
The feed shape and the "RSS Feeds" label come from live Bound school calendars we sync for families as of October 2026. Districts can configure their pages differently — if yours looks different, tell us and we’ll fix the page.
