Spond troubleshooting looks nothing like the other team apps, because Spond works nothing like them. There's no link to re-copy and no subscription to delete and re-add — Spond writes events straight into a calendar on your phone. So when sessions stop showing up, the problem is almost always permissions, the target calendar, or per-group routing.
Here are the five causes worth checking, in the order that finds it fastest.
Spond never got full calendar access — or it quietly dropped to read-only
This is the first thing to check, and on iPhone it's the usual culprit. Spond doesn't hand out a calendar link; it writes events directly into a calendar on your phone, which means it needs permission to write, edit, and delete. Apple requires full access rather than read-only for exactly that reason — read-only would let Spond add an event and then never touch it again, so a moved practice would sit there at the old time forever. Fix it at iOS Settings → Apps (or Privacy & Security) → Calendars → Spond → Full Access, or from inside Spond at your profile picture → Calendar settings → Grant access here → Calendars → Full Access. On Android the equivalent is Calendar settings → Provide access, then tap Yes.
No target calendar is selected — or it is pointing at the wrong one
Granting access is only half of it. Spond still needs to know which calendar to write into, and if that setting is empty, nothing lands anywhere. Tap your profile picture → Calendar settings; on Android the setting is called Standard calendar. Pick the calendar you actually look at — a Google account calendar if you live in Google Calendar, an iCloud calendar if you live in Apple Calendar. One thing to expect after you change it: events Spond already wrote into the old calendar may stay behind, so delete those once by hand.
The events are on this phone and nowhere else
If sessions show in the Calendar app on your phone but never appear at calendar.google.com, on your iPad, or on your partner's phone, Spond wrote into a device-local calendar — the one listed as "On my iPhone" or similar on Android. Local calendars never leave the handset. Go back to Calendar settings and choose a calendar that lives under your Google or iCloud account instead, and the same events will start reaching everything that account signs into.
Only some of your groups come through
That is a setting doing its job rather than a bug. Under your profile picture → Calendar settings → Standard calendar → Group calendar settings, each Spond group can be routed to a different calendar or switched off entirely. If one kid's team is missing while another's is fine, this is almost certainly where it went. Turn the missing group back on, or point it at the same calendar as the rest.
A session moved, but the rest of the family is still seeing the old time
Spond will ping you in its own app, and it updates its own entries in the calendar it writes to. What lags is everything downstream: if you bridged that calendar out to the family — say by publishing the Google or iCloud calendar and subscribing to the link elsewhere — those subscriptions only get re-read every 12 to 24 hours, and no app announces what changed when they do. There is no button to force it. Schedule Caddie checks feeds like that every hour and emails you exactly what moved, which is the part no calendar app does.
Because there isn't one. Spond doesn't publish an iCal or webcal address for a group, and it has no public API for exporting events. That's not a setting you've missed — it's the product. Everything calendar-related in Spond is about which calendar it writes into. Our full Spond calendar guide covers the workaround: let Spond fill a Google or iCloud calendar, then take the subscribable link from that calendar instead.
Apple's read-only permission would let Spond add events but never touch them again. Spond edits times and deletes entries when a session is cancelled, so full access is the only level that allows it to keep the calendar honest. If you tapped Don't Allow the first time, iOS won't ask again — set it at Settings → Apps → Calendars → Spond → Full Access.
Removing cancelled sessions is something Spond normally handles on its own, so a leftover usually means it lost the ability to edit that calendar — check the access level first. If the event was written into a calendar you have since stopped using as the target, Spond is no longer maintaining it there, and that one is yours to delete by hand.
The Season Planner's import is web-only and one-directional: it brings an outside .ics file into Spond. There's no matching export that hands you a feed, so it won't help you get your schedule anywhere else.
Spond's own app notifications are the alert channel for Spond events, and that part works — as long as notifications are still switched on and you open the app. Everything downstream updates silently. For the rest of the family's schedules, the ones that do have real links (TeamSnap, GameChanger, the league site) or come as a school PDF, Schedule Caddie merges them onto one color-coded calendar and emails you what changed. It's free.
These come from Spond's documented calendar-sync flow as of September 2026, cross-checked against the in-app path. Apps move buttons — if yours looks different, look for the calendar sync or subscribe option under your profile picture, and tell us so we can fix the page.
