How to Sync GotSport to Google Calendar

GotSport publishes a real iCal feed for every team — the club-soccer schedule can live in your Google Calendar and stay current on its own. The friction is that the link hides under different labels depending on where you look, and Google only accepts feed URLs on the desktop site.

Here's the full route, from either the Team App or system.gotsport.com.

⏱ Takes about 4 minutes

GotSport → Google, step by step

  1. 1

Get your GotSport iCal link (app or web). GotSport splits into two places: the Team App on your phone, and the web system at system.gotsport.com. Either works. Open your team's Schedule or Calendar section and look for the iCal / Add to Calendar option — GotSport markets it as "Calendar Integration (iCal)", but the on-screen label varies. Copy the URL rather than tapping through to a calendar app: GotSport links typically look like https://system.gotsport.com/calendar/team/123456.ics.

  2. 2

Copy the URL, not the one-time export. GotSport will happily push the schedule straight into your phone's calendar — but that's a one-time dump that never updates. The .ics URL is a live feed: subscribe once and future games and changes flow through.

  3. 3

Open Google Calendar in a browser — the phone app can't do this part. On a computer, go to calendar.google.com. On a phone, the Google Calendar app has no way to add a calendar from a URL — open calendar.google.com in your phone's browser instead (Request Desktop Site if the mobile page hides the settings).

  4. 4

Add calendar → From URL → paste → Add. In the left sidebar, click the + next to "Other calendars" and choose From URL. Paste the GotSport link and click Add calendar. If Google rejects a webcal:// link, change webcal:// to https:// and try again.

  5. 5

Check it on your phone. Events show up on the web within a minute. In the Google Calendar phone app, open Settings, find the new calendar under your account, and make sure Sync is on.

One team subscribed — or the whole family merged?

Subscribe directly

Paste the link into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Outlook and it works — and for one team it's genuinely fine. Club soccer's squeeze is the calendar sprawl: league play on GotSport, a tournament on another platform, a sibling on a different app — and nothing warning you when Saturday double-books itself.

Paste into Schedule Caddie

  • GotSport plus every other kid's team app, merged into one calendar
  • Color-coded by kid or schedule so you can tell at a glance
  • Email alerts the moment a game or practice changes
  • A weekly digest so nothing slips through
  • School PDF calendars imported alongside — the one schedule with no feed

If something's not working

I can't find any iCal option on my team's page

Label and placement vary by GotSport version: look for iCal, Add to Calendar, or Add All to Calendar in the team's Schedule section. On public event pages, an individual game hides its Add to Calendar behind the three-dots menu next to that game — but that's per-game; you want the team-level link.

There's no "From URL" option in my Google Calendar app

The phone app genuinely can't add subscribed calendars — that step has to happen at calendar.google.com in a browser. Once added there, it syncs to the app on its own.

A match moved but Google still shows the old time

Google refreshes subscribed calendars on its own cycle — typically 12 to 24 hours — and there's no way to force it. If knowing about changes quickly matters (tournament weekends especially), Schedule Caddie checks the same feed hourly and emails you exactly what changed.

My kid plays on two GotSport teams — one link or two?

One feed per team. Add both URLs to Google separately — or paste both into Schedule Caddie and subscribe Google to the single merged calendar instead, with conflict warnings when the two schedules collide.

Frequently asked questions

How often does Google Calendar update a subscribed GotSport feed?

Google decides on its own — typically every 12 to 24 hours, with no setting to speed it up. Changes arrive silently: the event just moves, with no notification that it moved.

Will Google Calendar notify me when a match is rescheduled?

No. Subscribed calendars update quietly in the background. If you want an actual heads-up, Schedule Caddie watches the same GotSport feed hourly and emails you exactly what changed — new time, old time, which team.

Does this work for tournament schedules too?

If the tournament runs through GotSport and publishes the games to your team's schedule, they ride the same feed. Separate tournament platforms publish their own calendars — grab those links the same way and merge them alongside.
