How to Get the School Calendar on a Skylight Calendar

Half the family schedule isn't sports — it's early releases, no-school days, and breaks, trapped in a district PDF the Skylight can't read. Turn the PDF into a live calendar feed once, and the school year sits on the wall next to every practice.

⏱ Takes about 10 minutes

The steps

  1. 1

Grab the school calendar as the district publishes it. PDF from the district site, the paper handout photographed with your phone — either works. If your district publishes a live feed link, even better: that pastes straight in.

  2. 2

Upload it to Schedule Caddie. Add Schedule → Upload a PDF or photo. It reads out the days parents actually need — no-school days, early releases, first/last days, breaks — and you review everything before it lands. Free.

  3. 3

Copy your feed URL from Subscribe & Share. One URL now carries the school year — and every team feed you've added beside it, if you want the whole family on one calendar.

  4. 4

Paste the URL into the Skylight app (or subscribe via Google/Apple). Skylight takes feed URLs directly (per its support docs): Skylight app → My Skylight menu → Synced Calendars → Sync new calendar → Calendar URL → paste → Done. Or subscribe Google/Apple/Outlook to the link and toggle that calendar on in the Skylight app — both routes reach the wall.

If something's not working

The school days imported but don't show on the wall

In the Skylight app, make sure the subscribed calendar is enabled for display — accounts and individual calendars toggle separately.

The district revised the calendar mid-year

It happens every year — a snow-day makeup, a moved conference day. Email the new version to support@schedulecaddie.com and we'll update the schedule so the wall follows; the feed URL never changes.

All-day events look odd or doubled

Make sure you subscribed the feed once, in one account the Skylight mirrors — subscribing in Google AND Apple shows duplicates on a display that reads both.

Frequently asked questions

My district only prints a paper calendar — really no problem?

Really. Photograph it; the reader handles printed grids and lists. You review every extracted date before anything is saved.

Can grandparents see it too?

Yes — the same Schedule Caddie calendar can become a share page anyone can open in a browser or subscribe to on their own phone, no account needed.

How current are these steps?

Verified against Skylight's calendar-mirroring model as of September 2026.
